Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 into the musically inclined family of Newark New Jersey is the daughter of the gospel singers Cissy Houston as well as John Russell Houston Jr. Also, she is the sister of the singer Dionne Warwick. It allowed her to achieve seven US chart-topping songs in succession which beat the Beatles. The album was sold out of three million copies in its first album's first year of release in the US and went on to sell 25 million worldwide winning her the first of her six Grammies. The Whitney 1987 release, featuring Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as hits, helped build upon the success she had achieved. However, the 1992 movie The Bodyguard sealed her spot in the top 20 most-sellers in history. The film itself as well as the performances in it were not highly reviewed, the soundtrack album as well as her rendition to the Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You made the charts of albums and singles for a period of time and sold over 44 million copies around the globe.
